On Humans and Animals

First off, this may be difficult for a non-believer to grasp. But, as a Christian and, as this is written in the Bible – my stand of authority – this is my stand on the role of humans and animals.

Genesis 1:26 ¶ “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”

Even though we are all the same basic material – flesh, blood, etc… – we, humans, are the only creatures created in God’s image. Humans and animals also differ in spirit.
Because of that, we are to “…have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
Animals are there for our own resources. Yes, some say that we are also “animals.” Technically, yes. However, we are also HUMANS. Sure, we may sometimes act like animals – trust me, I’ve had meals with pigs before. *wink*
We also have the ability to rise above acting like an animal. Let me ask you, if we were truly animals, why is it that we are the only ones that can communicate on a whole different level; we have powerful governments and nations that have risen over the course of history; and we have technologies that the rest of the animal kingdom can never hope to ever replicate?
Of course, even though we are given dominion over animals, we are not to abuse that power.
We are to be good stewards of what God has given us. Proverbs 12:10 “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”

God does not view us as mere animals. In fact, He loved us so much, He sent His only begotten Son to die for us:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

What Dr. Adrian Rogers Said…

“There are things you will never understand apart from faith. Faith is the dynamic of spiritual wisdom. In the Bible, God is not explained. God is not argued. God is simply presented. And that is how He must be accepted – simply by faith: ‘…for he that comes to God must believe that He is…'(Hebrews 11:6)

“The skeptic will challenge you to prove there is a God. Don’t ever try to do that. The finite cannot prove the infinite. Just say, “Well, I can’t do it.’ And as he smirks smugly, you can say, ‘Now prove there is no God.’ Of course, he can’t do it. The skeptic accepts by faith there is no God. All people are believers. There are those who believe in God and those who believe there is no God, but all are believers.

“Science is the study of phenomena now existing. Back in the oldest book of the Bible, God asked Job, “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding'(Job 38:4). No scientists were there. There’s no way they can explain it. How do we understand it? By faith. Some say, ‘Well, that takes a lot of belief.’ Really? Seems a lot more belief is required to assert that nothing times nobody equals everything. That’s what they choose to believe. No wonder the Bible says, ‘The fool has said in his heart, There is no God…'(Psalm 53:1). God is the supreme fact, and the man who denies the supreme fact is the supreme fool.

“Remember, faith is not contrary to reason; it’s simply beyond reason. To go into the laboratory to try to prove God would be like tearing apart a piano to try to find a tune. It’s impossible…just as it is impossible to have spiritual wisdom without faith.”

On the Bible

The Bible, not only one of the oldest books in the world, but also the bestselling book of all time. Truly, this book is marvelous! Think about it – it has stood the test of time and survived from nearly 1500 years ago and is still available today. After all, we have God’s promise in:
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

After all, the author is God!
2 Peter 1:20-21 “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”

And since God is the author, I can definitely trust every single word that is written therein. I can also know for sure that the salvation message written in it is reliable.
It doesn’t matter if you are not that uneducated, or if you have countless number of Ph.D’s or what-have-you framed up in your house. After all, the apostles were made up of lowly fishermen and scholarly professionals.

It doesn’t matter if you have committed so many wrong things in your life so far, or if you are the most honest and respected denizen on earth. After all, Jesus was crucified between two convicts, and he readily forgave one of them when the convict expressed his repentence.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Romans 1:19-25

Just thought I’d share a verse – Romans 1:19-25:

19 ¶ Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
